October 24, 2005Normally I don't like foreign movies with subtitles, but I absolutely loved this. It is a charming comedy-drama that the whole family can enjoy.
An impoverished "baal teshuva" (a Jew who was not raised to be religiously observant, but became so later) and his wife pray for a miracle to get them through the Sukkot festival--and get more than they bargained for!
Financial aid comes from an unexpected source. But they also get 2 surprise guests for the holiday who sorely test their patience.
