Movie Review
Grade: A-
Screw all those damn Japanese horror remakes. Laugh at the lame schlock films like "Saw" and "Hostel." If you want a blood-splattered, fright-inducing experience, then "The Descent" is the movie for you. Easily the best horror movie of the year, "The Descent" makes monster movies scary again. The Descent, by dab59

Unfortunately after watching this film I realised I'd already seen it last year in THE CAVE. Substitute the film lead in and last five minutes at the end and the plot is the same. Main difference, which was minor in my book, THE CAVE featured a male/female cast.
After such a lead up I found this samenesss of the films detracted from THE DESCENT, a bit as I felt too familiar with the plot. However, that said THE DESCENT would be the more convincing of the 2 films in terms of pure horror and entertainment value. The creatures were more believable and unfortunately too closely resembled men to be any thing else... made it far more terrifying. Would watchit again as I sure I missed a bit pearing through my fingers in some parts. Worthwhile seeing this movie instead of THE CAVE.
