Movie Review

With some big movies out at theaters, Center Stage was not high on my list. I mean, I don't think I had even seen previews for it, and the only things I knew about this movie were from what I put on this web page. I had no clue what to expect, but, after finishing watching it, I must say that Center Stage is a surprisingly decent movie, if not suffering from a few flaws. Full movie review »

The dances were really amazing. the storyline was also the best. You can really have a view of what it takes to be a professional ballet dancer. i my self is one but not as professional. I love dancing but have problems with my body. I had been dancing for 10 yrs but ill have to stop in order to focus on my studies in college especially that i am exected to be away from home in those years. As for my sister, this movie made her realize how hard it must be in entering a ballet company. Still we the advance class cant get enough ofthe movie. We event got a copy for ourselves so that we can be enlighted evry once in a while when we are problamatic in our dancing. This movie will surely make my "longing" for ballet to be lessen.

Those of you who are dancers and say that this movie does not relate to the real world, you're crazy. I danced for 15 years but had to give it up so I could go to college. Teachers do treat their students differently. In my company, my teacher doted on all of the girls who, yes, were excellent dancers, but they were all devoid of personality and the size of my pinky finger. My teacher overlooked all of the girls who were great dancers but who weren't an ideal weight--except for her family who danced there also. I love to dance, but it sucks when your instructor can do nothing but make it hell for you. It's understandable that they just want the best out of you, but it's hard to get the best when you want to be under a rock because all they can do is pick on you.

And btw, there is no way you can be a professional dancer for 14 years and be 17 years old.

Overall, this movie was great at giving the inside glimpse at the real world of competitive ballet. Eating disorders are a real problem, as Maureen has shown us, and there are definitely girls who think they are better than everyone. Aside from that, the dancing was absolutely amazing. All the dancers did a spectacular job.

being a dancer myslef..this movie does face alot of the realities in being a dancer,it was cast greatly..and i loved the story..i also got to work will Amanda Schull(jodie) in a ballet in San Fransico-she is a really good danceer, but nothing like her movie personality..

I have been a professional ballet dancer for 14 years im 17 now,and this movie is nothing like what real dancers have to go through. My mother and father are both dancers and have been since age 4 and 6..i attend a very prestige ballet company and there is no such thing as aba..

This movie is the best by far! i love it and can not get enough of it. i love all the dance moves and the storie line, allthough i wished that jodie and charlie got together a bit earlier.
