Movie Review
I'd like to say that Funny Games is a film about children and their youth, the fun they have during a summer between school years. It could have been cheerful, an uplifting film with a PG rating. But alas, Funny Games is nothing like that. It is depraved, disturbing and fucked up. It defies the rules of cinema except, of course, it's a remake.

June 13, 2008Erik, It is refreshing to see an honest review of this little gem. I have only seen the original, and I did my best to share it with friends. Regardless that it is a remake, either film steps out of bounds and challenges the viewer. It is only suitable that the man who created the vision, would update it for the masses to experience. In this case, the controversy is welcome.

October 7, 2007I have seen Haneke's original Funny Games and there is no way that this storyline will sit well with American audeinces. It is extremely dark and I have a feeling this Americanized remake will be forced to change endings from the original, which will make it more accessible, but much less powerful. Who greenlit this one.
