Movie Review

I'm a junior in high school, and, like all juniors in my high school, we are required to read The Crucible by Arthur Miller. I wouldn't have read it otherwise. The book is in play format, and it gives a fictional story of the Salem witch trials, but they could just have easily been true. It's not the most exciting play, but it is intriguing, and that's why I rented the movie. Full movie review »

I am a sophmore in Highschool and we are not suppose to read The Crucible until junior year but this year our Theatre department decided to do the crucible as their winter play. I tried out and made the part as Judge John Hathorne, and I just wanted to say that I loved the movie I love the play and I loved the book and people should both read the book and see the movie and even do some research before they knock it because they will see a lot of the characters were real.

I'm a junior in highschool and was recently required to listen to the Arthur Miller's play The Crucible and follow along in the book. I have always been intrigued by Salem and the entire era of witches so I was very excited to read the play. However to my dismay although the play had a very interesting plot, it was hard to follow at times and also was quite different from the true history. After reading the play I was still interested in the trials and was therefore prompted by my English teacher to watch the movie. In my opinion it was a fantastic movie. Although it was not historically accurate, it was true to Miller's play. It had everything: suspense, romance, excitement, saddness, and even a little comedy. Watching it allowed me to actually understand the characters and the way they act and think. Therefore I'd like to tell everyone who read the play to watch the movie before actually knocking The Crucible.
