May 10, 2005This movie/book is an amazing picture of God's grace exemplified through the bishop and then continued through Jean Valjean. A real picture of redemption as the bishop is willing to put his life in jeopardy to save Jean. Javert is the embodiment of the law and it's exactitude without grace or forgiveness. He cannot rest until justice is done according to his self-righteous system. Javert finally sees his error and realizes that the "law" is not all there is and that a sacrifice must be made and it turns out to be him. A glimse of what Jesus did for us on the cross in redeeming us from death, paying the price the law demands and giving us life. deansaxton@lavitahouse.com
