Many people groaned when they heard that Walt Disney Pictures was adapting one of its classic rides, "Pirates of the Caribbean," into a movie. If most movies based on video games turn out idiotic, how can you possibly build a movie off of a 5-minute float ride? September 5, 2005When i first saw this movie (have seen it about 50 times since, no joking, since we have got it on DVD twice!!), i knew that love at first sight was real!!
Johnny Depp (who actually looks completely different in this) was amazing! he played it so well, funny, yet he didn't just got for the funny side of it. Orlando Bloom was fantastic in this too! Very brave, and serious, yet still a laugh.
Barbosa is hilarious! Obviously not the 'fittest looking' in this, but, then again, he is a livingdead guy. He played the part well. The line at the beginning is such a good one, when Elizabeth asks to Barbosa to leave her town, and he replies "I am disinclined to acquiess to your request...it means No,"; Class. i am always quoting it!
I give this a grade A* !"(A* is better than A+)

May 26, 2004This movie is a real treat.. Excellent acting, effects, and dialogue make this movie the best one of the year. Johnny Depp plays the part of Captain Jack Sparrow so well and adds to the part! A must see!!!!=)
