Movie Review
Warner Brothers had slated Queen of the Damned for direct-to-video hell, but then Aaliyah died and this movie based on the third book of the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice was given a theatrical release. I would like to say that the motives behind this were purely honorable, such that they were allowing Aaliyah's last film to reach theaters for her sake, but I doubt the move was anything but business-oriented. In fact, if Warner Brothers had decided to keep Aaliyah's best interests in mind, they would not have released Queen of the Damned at all, because it really sucks - forgive the pun. October 12, 2005This movie was so good, I was in a trance watching the whole thing. The music was great, Stuart did wonderful. Everyone in the movie was great! I haven't read the books, but i will now. I don't think it matters if it was different from the book, it was still good! Alot of movies that are based on books are normally really different than the book, and they should be, IT"S A MOVIE!
Great job guys!

May 6, 2004Forgive my brutal honesty, but anyone who likes this movie has obviously never read the books or seen what a true book-to-movie adaptation should be. In the books, Marius did not even make Lestat, and the whole crap movie is based around this lie! And just to let you know, Anne Rice had nothing to do with this movie. Once the movie rights are purchased, the author has no say in what they do with it. The studio buys the rights for a 4-year stretch and then it reverts back to the author. Warner Bros. was at 3.5 years and had still done nothing with it, so they hurried and pushed this movie out just to make a few quick bucks on it before they lost rights. What pure crap!! If you want real entertainment, use your brain and read the books!! Seriously!!

April 1, 2004As a new reader and fan of the Vampire Chronicles, I was pleased to have stumbled upon the VHS "Queen of the Damned" while at the library. I wish I had not. I am determined to find out why Ann Rice would allow this. Hopefully, Lestat will be redeemed on film as well as, and here comes the real agony, Marius. What a mess of a characterization! For those of you who have not read these books, please read them in order, at least the first three. You will so understand why the movie was down right pitiful.
