The Best Performances of 2011

No. 12. Adepero Oduye, Pariah

Adepero Oduye delivers an emotional and incredibly believable performance as a lesbian who fears coming out to her family. Too bad no one saw her movie.

No. 11. Brad Pitt, Moneyball

Moneyball is a great movie for a variety of reasons, but Brad Pitt carries the film with his charming, funny and energetic performance. We won’t go the bad pun route and say it’s a "home run of a performance". Even though it is.

No. 10. Dominic Cooper, The Devil’s Double

Dominic Cooper goes the Eddie Murphy route and plays two people in this movie, the sociopathic son of Saddam Hussein and the poor bastard who has to pose as the psychopath. Unlike Eddie Murphy, however, he doesn’t make the audience want to shoot themselves.

No. 9. Albert Brooks, Drive

Albert Brooks doesn’t want to be bad. He really doesn’t. But being the head of a small gangster outfit in Los Angeles means that sometimes you have to murder people with forks. Even if you feel bad while doing it.
