The 9 Best Joseph Gordon-Levitt Movies

No. 6. Inception (2010)

One of the most unique and intelligent blockbusters of our age, Inception marks the beginning of what is hopefully a long partnership between Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Christopher Nolan. Gordon-Levitt only has a supporting role in this masterpiece, but he is the key player in what is undoubtedly its most memorable sequence: the gravity-shifting fistfight.

No. 5. The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

In this epic conclusion to The Dark Knight trilogy, Christopher Nolan hands Joseph Gordon-Levitt a larger role, that of noble police officer John Blake. While, when all is said and done, Blake doesn’t do a whole lot (Batman tells him to start getting people out of the city, which he completely fails to do), Gordon-Levitt’s delivery is pitch perfect.

While he’s had the headlining role in an increasing number of movies, The Dark Knight Rises is his biggest movie to date.

No. 4. Brick (2006)

A murder mystery with a high school twist, “Brick” is no laughable teen thriller. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Brendan, a modern day loser, who, despite his quiet nature, is smart, cunning and determined. After he finds the love of his life dead in a sewer, he sets out to find the killer. The police are of no use, so he immerses himself in a world of the rich and the dangerous, the gangsters and the wannabes. As he becomes more involved in the lives of the people who may have been responsible for the murder, is he losing focus or working toward something no one can see?
