The 9 Best Joseph Gordon-Levitt Movies

No. 3. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

As an Internet meme cleverly points out, there’s that awkward moment when you realize that the Joker and Batman’s quasi-sidekick met in high school. 10 Things I Hate About You stars a young Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a new kid at school who falls in love with a gorgeous girl. Unfortunately, to date her, he must get her bitchy older sister (played by Julia Stiles) to go on a date first. He recruits none other than Heath Ledger to be that man.

Even 15 years later, this romantic comedy holds up extremely well and is among the best teen-oriented movies ever made.

No. 2. (500) Days of Summer (2009)

In this intelligent and unique drama-comedy (which could be confused as a romantic comedy), a boy falls in love with a girl who, despite some initial chemistry, just isn’t that into him. (500) Days for Summer┬áis a thoroughly enjoyable film that is both lighthearted and sad, hilarious and dramatic. If you’re going to see one romantic comedy all year, this is the one to see, even if it really isn’t a romantic comedy. I smiled the entire movie, and that’s rare.

No. 1. 50/50 (2011)

Not only is 50/50, a drama-comedy about a young man who is diagnosed with cancer, one of the best movies of the last several years, but Joseph Gordon-Levitt gives audiences the best performance of his career. Believable and emotional, relatable and funny, Gordon-Levitt helps make the movie what it is.
