No. 3. Saving Private Ryan (1998) Saving Private Ryan is the best movie on this list, but I’m going to dock it a few points because Matt Damon really doesn’t show up until the third act. While he delivers a great performance in a pivotal role (he is the title character, after all), I wouldn’t call it my “favorite Matt Damon movie.”

No. 2. Good Will Hunting (1997) One of two Matt Damon movies that I make a ritual of watching once a year, Good Will Hunting is a fantastically engaging, powerful and at times funny drama that hits all the right chords – and officially introduces us to the talents of Damon and Ben Affleck.

No. 1. The Bourne Supremacy (2004) I need to buy a new copy of this movie, because I’ve worn my original version to its nub. By far my favorite Bourne movie – and also the best Matt Damon movie – Paul Greengrass’s action flick is a masterpiece. But, no Carlos?
