11 Entertaining Movies You Didn’t Watch in 2014
Sitting at home, scratching your head or other parts of your body wondering what movie to watch tonight? Bored of all those “best of” movies, dramas with great performances aspiring for award glory? Already have seen them all?
Here are 11 movies you probably didn’t see in 2014–but should. This list includes films that are not necessarily the best movies of 2014, but entertaining pictures in their own right that were overlooked due to subject matter, release plan, lack of marketing support or something else entirely.
11. Space Station 76
The Space Station 76 depicts a futuristic space station as if it were made in the 1970s. Space Station 76 isn’t for everyone, but the oddly alluring drama-comedy presents a cast of quirky characters that creates a ridiculously fun experience.
10. Bad Words
An angry, 40-year old man uses a loophole to enter a national spelling bee contest, and the results are glorious. Bad Words, the directorial debut of Jason Bateman, is sometimes funny and always politically incorrect.
9. The Babadook
Giving proof that you should always screen books before reading them to your children, this critically acclaimed and often chilling horror movie is about a monster who “lives” in a picture book.
Enemy–which stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a man who discovers his own doppelganger–is most definitely not for everyone, but it is for people who cherish something a little different, a little offbeat and slightly disturbing. Oh, and don’t say we didn’t warn you about the ending.
7. Cuban Fury
Nick Frost… salsa dancing champion? Such is the premise presented in Cuban Fury, a surprisingly funny and entertaining romantic comedy that also stars Chris O’Dowd, Rashida Jones and Ian McShane.
