All About the Benjamins Review
Ice Cube and Mike Epps star in All About the Benjamins, an entertaining action-comedy about a bounty hunter and a criminal that team up to stop a diamond smuggling ring.
When the bounty hunter (Cube) pursues his latest target (Epps) into a Florida harbor, they unknowingly stumble onto a diamond heist. Epps losing his wallet, which has a winning lottery ticket in it, and Cube loses his man - not to mention the fact that he is pissed that the diamond thieves shot at him. The two team up so Epps can get his money back and Cube can make a name for himself, and some great things ensue.
All About the Benjamins isn't hilarious, and it isn't overly exciting, but it still is pretty funny, has lots of action, and is definitely worth an hour and a half of one's time. It isn't exactly Lethal Weapon, but has a lot of the same elements. They're not as well-executed, but Ice Cube is a good writer and his witty dialogue and sarcastic acting work well in giving Mel Gibson a run for his money.
Ice Cube's blend of comedy and action works pretty damn well. There's great action (well, for a comedy), but Cube is able to make even the most serious of parts funny without losing the integrity of the scene.
If you have liked Ice Cube's other movies, like Friday, then you'll like All About the Benjamins. It's funny and moderately exciting, definitely more than what I was expecting. In fact, it far exceeded my expectations.
