Congo, Michael Crichton's movie after Jurassic Park, left little to be desired for. The movie could have been good; it just wasn't. The apes were lame and Amy was even lamer. The gray apes go around, kill about one or two of the characters and then are cut up by a giant laser gun the first expedition just happened to have. They then, with the diamonds, have to escape a volcano that just conveniently erupts and finally escape on a balloon. The whole concept of the story was invisible and the combination of bad scripting, animatronics, and story made Congo a waste of time.
