Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 Review

Now available on Blu-ray and DVD (Buy on Amazon)

I watched Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 against the advice of doctors. I should have listened. I should have listened.

As maligned as the first movie was, I’ll admit I was moderately entertained—the original was dumb, but funny dumb. I certainly wasn’t clamoring for a sequel, but when a movie earns nine times its production budget, a sequel, as unnecessary and inevitably bad as it would be, was simply a matter of when.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is worse than I could have imagined.

First and foremost, the movie stars Kevin James, returning to what is arguably his most recognizable role. Kevin James just isn’t funny, and he is the antithesis of funny here. As expected but not avoided, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is an hour and a half of James acting liking a blubbering idiot in the most cringe-inducing way possible.

Secondarily… do I even need to go there? Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is mind-numbingly bad, a comedy that isn’t funny, isn’t entertaining and full of Kevin James. Do what I was too weak to do: avoid this movie. Avoid this movie now and forever. I should have listened. Don’t make the same mistake.
