In the tradition of Dumb and Dumber comes Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, a comedy about two clueless people who try to fit in with their old high school "friends". However, while Romy and Michele's High School Reunion is funny, the characters are no where as stupid or out of touch as Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber.

"Friends" costar Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino are the two title characters, women who basically have no lives and a bad taste in fashion. When they are invited to their high school reunion, they set out to make something for themselves to show all their rivals from school that they turned into something, but then realize that they should just be themselves. Kudrow acts very similarly to her character on the popular television series, as a ditzy dumb ass. This is obviously what she does best, so she should keep with it. On the other hand, Mira Sorvino, who I usually really like, seems a little out of her league, with a voice that's a little too strange too handle. Just watch and you'll get what I'm talking about.

The movie is sort of cheesy but it also is meant to be cheesy. It makes fun of itself the entire time, including a long dream sequence. The movie is overflowing with stupidity, highlighted by a dance scene at the end that would be lame in any other context but fits perfectly here. On the other hand, the comedy isn't quite as outrageous and in your face as some other stupid comedies, namely the Farrelly brother films. Of course, this one can't be compared to the Farrelly brother films, because Romy and Michele's High School Reunion is hardly a gross-out comedy; in fact, the only questionable material is a few swear words here and there.

There are a lot of funny scenes throughout the film and a lot of subtle humor. One of the best moments is where they set out for the reunion and the convertible they just borrowed keeps on backfiring. Funny stuff. The movie does get a little slow at parts, especially towards the end, but overall, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion is a fun movie.
