Before he was "the mask," Tsui was part of the 701 Squad, an elite military force of medically enhanced super-soldiers who were rendered void of physical or emotional pain. Demoralized, Tsui escapes from their headquarters in mainland China and attempts to live a normal life in Hong Kong. But there is trouble lurking nearby. Realizing that the carefully orchestrated effort to murder all of Hong Kong's drug lords is the work of the 701 Squad, Tsui must act fast to protect his new friends, co-workers, and the entire planet. MOVIE REVIEW

Jet Li debuts in the American theater with Black Mask (not counting Lethal Weapon 4, where he was not a lead character) and falls with a thud. Bad scripting, bad dubbing, and overly gruesome filming cannot be made up by some really cool action sequences, leaving Black Mask with nothing more than a place in the corner.
