Teenager Stanley Yelnats (try spelling that backwards) is sent to a detention camp for a crime he didn't commit - stealing a pair of shoes - and is forced by the ferocious warden to dig five-foot deep holes every day as a character building exercise. But is there more to the holes than meets the eye?

One of the better films of the year is the surprisingly good Holes, a kid's movie that knows how to appeal to all ages. Featuring such big names as Jon Voight and Sigourney Weaver, Holes may be this generation's Goonies.
