My Giant Movie Synopsis & Plot
Once upon a time, there was a second-rate talent agent named Sammy (BILLY CRYSTAL) who was more devoted to his climb to the top than to his wife Serena (KATHLEEN QUINLAN) and his son Nick (ZANE CARNEY). His work took him to Romania where by accident (literally), he discovered 7'7" giant, Max (GHEORGHE MURESAN), a Shakespeare-quoting caretaker living in a monastery. Although Max was quite happy with his humble existence, he did have one wish - to see his long, lost teenage love Lillianna (JOANNA PACULA) who moved to New Mexico 22 years ago.
Sammy thinks Max could be his ticket out of mediocrity; he thinks he could promote this giant to even greater heights, theatrically speaking of course. And he convinces Max that if he comes with him to America, he'll make him a big movie star and reunite him with Lillianna.
Together Sammy and Max set out on a road to fulfill their dreams. It takes them from the forests of Romania, to the suburbs of Chicago, to the hustle of Times Square, to the desert of New Mexico, and finally to the flash of a Las Vegas movie set where Sammy tries to convince Steven Seagal to cast Max in his film.
On their journey, Sammy and Max learn the genuine meaning of Max's favorite Shakespearean quote: "To shine own self be true." And it leads them both to the most unexpected transformations of the heart. Fairy tales are like that some times.
MOVIE REVIEW
Billy Crystal has some great movies (City Slickers and Forget Paris) and some bad ones (Fathers' Day). Unfortunately, My Giant is more like the latter.Read our My Giant movie review »
