19th Century England. After their father dies, the Nickleby children, who always enjoyed a very comfortable lifestyle, are suddenly left penniless and sent to live with their uncle in London, only to find that he has no intentions of keeping them together. Nicholas is sent to work as a teacher at a school, but he ends up running away with one of the students to reunite his family.
