Outside Providence Movie Synopsis & Plot
From the Farrelly Brothers, the guys who made "There's Something About Mary", comes something that will make your hair stand on end...
Based on the novel by Peter Farrelly, OUTSIDE PROVIDENCE is the hilarious yet startlingly poignant story of a young man's coming-of age. In the blue-collar town of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Timothy Dunphy (Shawn Hatosy) has a broken home, a three-legged dog and a full-blown attraction to trouble. His friends have no future, but he's about to get one whether he likes it or not. After crashing into a parked police car, his father (Alec Baldwin) packs him off to prep school-where he's out of place, outclassed and seriously outnumbered.
His fellow students and school sweetheart (Amy Smart) may have gone to prep school all their lives, but nothing could prepare them for him.
MOVIE REVIEW
Supposedly, Outside Providence is a movie that was written by the Farrelly brothers a long time ago, and only now, after their success with such gross-out comedies like Dumb and Dumber, There's Something About Mary, and Me, Myself and Irene, it has been made. It is also noteworthy as to why most people would be disappointed by this film, mostly for the namesake and the comparison to the movies listed above. Outside Providence is not a "Farrelly brothers" movie, as it does not lean to the gross-out comedy, but to a more serious comedy.Read our Outside Providence movie review »
