Phantoms - Movie Synopsis & Plot

A small, Colorado town, sits deserted. Of the 700 inhabitants, only a few still remain, massacred. Stranger, though, is the city itself. Something is controlling the lights, the bells, the phones, and everything else. Something is there, hiding, waiting to pounce. Two young women, visiting for a while, arrive first, witnessing the horrifying silence. Then comes the police; two of them soon slaughtered by an unimaginable force. The special forces come last, only to find that their guns are useless.

The entity can take any form: any animal, human, or anything else. It absorbs the souls of it's victims, feeding off their intelligence and imagination. And the only weakness is that it thinks it is a god.

MOVIE REVIEW

Dean Koontz's intriguing story comes to the big screen in a horrifying manner. It is truly spooky, every second feeling as though something is about to pop out from the shadows. This faded into action sequences during the second half, which wasn't quite as good, and the ending was less than to be desired for, short and blunt with no problems in the way. Peter O-Toole's character was stupid and annoying. Phantoms has it's ups and downs but it waves more towards the up department.
