Laurel Ayres is a skilled and intelligent financial analyst. Unfortunately, she's a woman. Though it's the 1990's, sexism is still there, and after failing a should-be given promotion, she realizes that she will never do as good as her male counterparts. So, what does she do? She creates "Robert S. Cutty" and starts her own firm, letting her imaginary co-worker take all the credit. As she continues to deceive, however, some people begin to become suspicious. Laurel's arch rival, Frank, the man who stole her promotion, sets out to unmask Laurel's business partner.

MOVIE REVIEW

Whoopi Goldberg always has a lot of energy, but, unfortunately, The Associate does not. While Whoopi shines, the movie lags on. This concept has been done a hundred times before and it will be done a hundred times more; out of all those, at least some have to be better than this boring comedy.
