Richard is a young American who finds himself tagging along with a French couple, the female part, Francoise, being quite attractive. But when the three travel to an island that seems like paradise, what they find is just what being away from society for so long does to a person.

Leonardo DiCaprio returns to the big screen in The Beach, a very twisted, psychedelic, psychological "thriller." First off: Forget the previews. The movie trailers for The Beach are about as misleading as they get. They represent the first portion of the film, where everyone is happy and having fun, but beyond that, the movie is free to twist your mind. From the previews, it is told that the paradise ends, but not in anyway that you'll think of.
