The Man in the Iron Mask Movie Synopsis & Plot

"When rioting citizens of France destroyed the Bastille, they discovered within its records this mysterious entry: 'Prisoner number 64389000: the Man in the Iron Mask.' The identity of the prisoner has forever remained a mystery."

The Man in the Iron Mask tells the story of four brave musketeers risking it all to restore order to a rioting nation. Louis XIV is harsh and cruel, letting his people starve to death. For women, he is willing to risk men's lives. Three ex-patriots, Musketeers of the King, decide to stand up for what's right: Their plan… Replace the King. And what about the man in the iron mask? When he was young, the man known as Philippe was placed in prison, sentenced to wear the mask. And why? Philippe is the identical twin of King Louis XIV; he is the only option for replacement. Going against the King, risking execution, they set out to rescue the young man and place him in his rightful place, the Palace of Versailles.

MOVIE REVIEW

The Man in the Iron Mask went for emotional, tear-jerking type of dialogue but failed miserably. The grim time period was masked by almost a constant charade of comical events. The only good side was that we got to see a number of well-respected actors together, although even they couldn't do much to cover up the bad scripting.
